Helena Bonham Carter To Receive BAFTA’s British Artist of the Year Award

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA Los Angeles) will honor Helena Bonham Carter with the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year at the 2011 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards.
“Helena Bonham Carter is an actress of immense versatility, and her range across movies of all genres is at once remarkable and fearless,” says Nigel Lythgoe, Chairman of BAFTA Los Angeles.
“She unwaveringly maintains her integrity and, through her choice of roles, continually challenges both herself and her audiences' perception of her.”
As previously announced, John Lasseter will receive the Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment, and David Yates will be honored with the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing.

Bonham Carter received an Academy Award nomination for her 2010 performance in The King’s Speech as Elizabeth, the wife of King George VI. She also received a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award nomination, and won BAFTA and British Independent Film Awards for her performance. Her first Oscar nod was for the 1997 film The Wings of the Dove, based on the novel by Henry James.
